A Stone for Safe Births- A Story from Jumla

In the quiet mountain village of Manisanghu, Jumla, the first cries of childbirth have long echoed with uncertainty. Without a nearby birthing center, mothers walked for hours—even while in labor—seeking care. Many delivered at home, alone or supported only by relatives. The risks were high. The losses, too many.

But today, hope has a new foundation.

On a clear, hopeful morning, Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Himani Rajya Laxmi Devi Shah, alongside mothers, community elders, and health leaders, laid the foundation stone for a new birthing center—a place where life can begin safely, with dignity.

An initiative by Himani Trust, the center will bring clean, culturally respectful, and professional maternal care to the women of Manisanghu and the wider Guthichaur region. Designed in collaboration with local voices and built to meet the realities of rural Nepal, the center will offer prenatal care, skilled delivery, and postpartum support—ensuring that no woman has to risk her life to give life.

This is more than a building—it is a promise. A promise to mothers that they matter. That birth can be safe. That dignity should never be a luxury.

But this promise still needs your help. Construction is underway, but support is needed for equipment, staffing, and medical supplies. With your contribution, this dream can open its doors even sooner—and save more lives.

“When we uild for mothers, we build for everyone.”
