Himani Trust supported earthquake relief work

According to National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Center of Nepal, earthquake with 5.3 Richter scale occurred in Bajhang District in Sudur Paschim Province of Nepal at 14:40 on 03 October 2023. Strong aftershock with 6.3 Richter scale occurred immediately after main shock at 15:06 and second after shock of 5.1 Richter scale at 15:13 and after shock 4.1 at 15:45 recorded. The epicenter of the quake was located in Bajhang district. Tremor was felt in surrounding districts (Bajura, Bajhang, Achham, Bajura, Dadeldhura, Baitadi, Darchula) as well as Kathmandu and also in Delhi, India.

With the notion of providing immediate relief from earthquake in Bajhang and West Rukum Himani Trust coordinated with the volunteers coordinated with local CDO office and local municipalities of the most affected area and received local approval for relief distribution. Himani Trust team left for the district with the relief materials on the 29th October 2023. With two days of travel team reached district headquarters and left for Thalara rural municipality which was the most affected area and distributed blanket and cooking utensils. It took two days to identify and distribute relief materials in Bajhang as it was a scattered settlement. Likewise, the team also visited another affected area called Badigaun, Bajhang and distributed relief material there as well. Similarly in West Rukum, the team coordinated with volunteers and distributed 1250 nutritious food items in earthquake affected areas like Aathbiskot municipality Sanibheri rural municipality and Musikot municipality.
